Georgia has two games left in their conference schedule this season, and while they can't overlook Mississippi State next week it's hard to not look forward to their matchup with Texas in two weeks.
The Longhorns got off to a rough start this season as they lost their season opener to Ohio State. While that loss isn't bad on paper, the Longhorns only scored seven points against the Buckeyes which was very disappointing. Their offense didn't get much better after that as they struggled for multiple weeks as Arch Manning and the Texas offense couldn't get in a rhythem even against the bad teams on their schedule. Things got even worse for Texas as they dropped what looked to be an easy game against Florida to fall to 3-2 on the season.
This made Georgia fans think Texas would be an easy win this season, but since that loss to Florida the Longhorns have rattled off four straight wins. So what once looked like an easy matchup for Georgia no longer looks that way.
One upcoming Georgia football game looks a lot more difficult than it once did
Georgia is fresh off their fourth straight victory as well as they took down Florida 24-20 on Saturday. This win moved Georgia to 7-1 on the season and in prime position to make the College Football Playoff.
Texas on the other hand is not in as good of a position to make the playoff. They already have two losses this season and will likely be eliminated with one more loss. So that will give them some extra motivation heading into their matchup with Georgia in two weeks. On top of that, Texas will want revenge after losing to the Bulldogs twice last season.
So not only does Texas have multiple reasons to be extra motivated to beat Georgia, but they have quickly become one of the hottest teams in the country. And it's impossible to forget that the Longhorns are beginning their second bye week of the season this week as well.
It's unfortunate for Geogia that their matchup with Texas won't be as easy as it once looked, but that shouldn't really matter. UGA is one of the best teams in the country and get to play the Longhorns at home, so even though Texas looks like a very good team Georgia should still expect to win.
