The NFL Draft is set to begin in one week which is always one of the most exciting times of the year for Georgia football fans. The Bulldogs always have some of the most players drafted every year, and that is projected to be the case again this year.

One of the players who is guaranteed to be selected in the draft this year is safety Malaki Starks. Not only will Starks get drafted this year, but he projects to be a first round draft pick as well. Sometimes players do fall out of the first round even if that is where they are projected, but Starks is one of two Bulldogs who will be at the draft in person next week. So there really is no greater sign that he will be a first round pick this year.

But how high he goes is the question everyone has. Some believe he will be a top 15 pick while others think he will fall into the 20s, but if he ends up a top 15 pick then he will make Georgia history.

First defensive back selected in the top 15 in two decades

Georgia fans are spoiled because they regularly have players taken inside the top 10 or 15 of the draft. But one position where that does not happen often is at defensive back. In fact, Jonathan Williams with Georgia Bulldogs on SI shared that UGA hasn't had a defensive back taken within the first 15 picks since 2005 when Thomas Davis accomplished that feat.

On top of that, Georgia hasn't had a defensive back selected in the top 14 picks since 1999 when Champ Bailey was selected with the No. 7 pick in the draft.

At this time it is unkown exactly where Starks will land, but there is a good chance he gets picked within the first 15 selections. And if that happens, then Starks will be rewriting the history books at Georgia once again.
