Georgia football found their gem of a QB in five-star Jared Curtis, who is the No. 1 quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class. But just because UGA has the best quarterback coming to Athens doesn’t mean they’re done recruiting the position.
Just last week Georgia offered the No. 1 QB in the 2027 recruiting class, and now Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs have their eyes set on the No. 2 QB in the 2027 class as well.
Georgia is working hard to find their next QB
Jayce Johnson, according to the 247Sports composite rankings, is the No. 2 quarterback and No. 32 overall player in the country for the 2027 class. But most importantly, he is an in-state recruit from Georgia and the No. 4 player from the Peach State.
Considering how talented of a player Johnson is and the fact that he’s an in-state recruit, it isn’t surprising at all to find out that Georgia is already pursuing him. Winning this recruitment however will be very tough as he already holds 29 scholarship offers from schools like Florida State, Auburn, Florida, Ole Miss, Tennessee and Texas A&M.
Even though the competition for Johnson is high, it appears that Georgia’s recruitment of him is going very well. This was seen in a recent quote from Johnson about his relationship with Offensive Coordinator Mike Bobo.
"We sat down with Coach Bobo, went over some plays, and went over some schemes, and it was a great experience.”

It’s still unclear who Georgia’s top quarterback target in the 2027 class is right now, but there’s a great chance it will end up being Johnson. So this is a name that every Georgia football fan should learn in a hurry, because there’s a great chance he becomes the next signal caller to call Athens home.
