There has been a lot of debate surrounding college football teams and how they plan to navigate their spring practice schedule. Obviously spring practices will continue like they always have at every school, but the end of spring practice is what could change for a lot of programs.
The end of spring pracitce typically is when programs host their annual Spring Game. This gives their fanbases a chance to see their team live and in-person one time before the offseason continues and they have to wait until the fall to see them play again. The Spring Game is also a good time to have players compete as they battle each other for the fall starting jobs because the Spring Game is as close to a real regular season game as the teams will experience all offseason.
But ever since the transfer portal and tampering within the sport has begun, there's been a debate as to if teams should cancel their Spring Game. Why risk having other teams see your under the radar players dominate during the Spring Game so they can try and poach them the rest of the offseason?
While this debate has gone on for a few years now, no major program has taken that step to actually cancel their Spring Game. That is until the Texas Longhorns announced on Thursday they are cancelling their game this year.

Should Georgia follow suit?
Now that a big time program has cancelled their Spring Game, it is finally starting to feel like a possibility that Georgia could as well. Texas is one of the few programs on the Bulldogs' level from a competitive, recruiting and financial standpoint, so if they are worried about their players being poached then maybe Georgia should too.
Georgia cancelling their Spring Game likely would receive a lot of backlash from the fanbase, and rightfully so. However, the goal at Georgia is to win National Championships, so if cancelling this game gives UGA a better chance at accomplishing that then maybe Georgia fans should be on board.
There is yet to be any public comments from Kirby Smart on this topic, so it's unlikely that the Spring Game will be cancelled this year. However, there is always a chance it could still happen, and this decision from the Longhorns should be Georgia fan's warning.
