Georgia softball pulled off what felt unthinkable after a 5-0 deficit against No. 1 seed Oklahoma in the SEC Softball Tournament. The Bulldogs not only came back from a five-run deficit against the top softball program in the country, but scored 10 unanswered runs to beat the Sooners 10-5 to advance to the Semifinals.

The Bulldogs will now face No. 4 seed Texas in a game that could send Georgia to the tournament championship with a win. It felt like the classic David and Goliath, and the giant was winning early, but Georgia, behind masterful pitching and hitting, took down Oklahoma with a stone.

Georgia softball makes history with biggest SEC tournament comeback over Oklahoma

After five innings, it felt like Georgia was going to suffer the same fate they did in all three games of their series against the Sooners just weeks ago. After being swept by Oklahoma, the Bulldogs knew it would be a tall task to pull off the upset.

The Sooners jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead, but clearly, Georgia was ready to answer as they were able to pull even with the Sooners with a five-run inning in the fourth. After another inning being knotted at five, the Bulldogs came alive, scoring another five runs total in back-to-back innings, making it a 10-5 ball game.

The difference in the game truly was freshman pitcher Presley Harrison, who was called upon in the first inning after starter Randi Roelling was only able to go for a third of an inning, giving up three hits and four earned runs.

Harrison threw a masterful game, allowing just three hits, no walks, seven strikeouts, and just one earned run in what ended up being the biggest comeback in SEC Softball Tournament history. Now, Georgia has a chance to get to the SEC title game and even help their chances at home-field advantage through the Regional and Super Regional rounds.
