One of the benefits of Georgia football already having 26 commits in their 2026 recruiting class is that the Bulldogs can now focus more attention on the recruits in the 2027 class now. That is exactly what Kirby Smart and his staff are doing with corner Duvay Williams, who is one of the top recruits in the country.

According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Williams is the No. 13 overall player in the country. He also is the No 3 corner and top ranked player from his home state of California.

There is obviously a lot of time still left in Williams' recruitment because he is in the class of 2027, but he was recently predicted to commit to USC which was a troubling report to see. However, On3 reported Anthony Dasher believes that Georgia is "still in the race" even after this prediction.

Georgia looking to catch in-state powerhouse for 5-star CB

Considering Williams is from California, it is going to be challenging to surpass USC and beat the Trojans in this recruitment. This is especially the case because it seems like USC has figured out how to recruit at a high level npw as they currently have the No. 1 2026 recruiting class.

Georgia however should be able to leverage their relationships in the state to help sway Williams to them. The Bulldogs already have two commits in the 2027 class and they are both from California as well. So not only has UGA found success in this state already, but their two commits can now help recruit Williams as well.

Thankfully time is on Georgia's side in this recruitment, but it is going to be difficult to come out on top in this battle. But Smart should never be doubted, so don't be surprised to see the Bulldogs take down USC in this recruitment.
