Georgia football has found a lot of success throughout the past month on the recruiting trail, but nothing topped what the Bulldogs pulled off on Monday. Sure there are many other updates from Monday to cover, especially from a couple of Georgia's five-star targets, but let's first begin with the whopping three commitments Georgia earned to start the week.

Georgia lands 3 different recruits on Monday

After earning a new commitment for seven days in a row, the Bulldogs took Sunday off and did not land any new commits. However, that break didn't last long as Georgia earned a commitment from four-star defensive lineman PJ Dean on Monday.

Earning one commitment on any one day makes that day a big win for Georgia recruiting, but UGA wasn’t done yet. Georgia’s next move was to go into the 2027 class this time and grab a commitment from four-star corner Dante Wright. And just when UGA fans thought Georgia was done, Kirby Smart added one final commitment from four-star defensive lineman Preston Carey from the 2026 class.

This puts an end to what was the best month of recruiting Georgia has ever seen. July won’t bring as many commitments as June did, but the next month is still shaping up to be extremely good as well.

Georgia jumps to No. 1 class ranking

Georgia has been shooting up the recruiting rankings this past month, inching their way closer to the coveted No. 1 spot. USC has held down the top ranking for quite some time now, but after two commitments in the 2026 class on Monday, Georgia has passed the Trojans and is the new No. 1 team according to the Rivals recruiting rankings.

Obviously there is a lot of time left in this recruiting cycle still, but the Bulldogs are exactly where they want to be as the calendar turns to July.

Two five-star targets give critical recruiting updates

Even after all of these commitments for Georgia, there are still plenty of elite targets UGA is still pursuing. There are even two five-star recruits Georgia is trending for that gave big updates on Monday.

The first came from linebacker Tyler Atkinson, who is the No. 1 linebacker in the country. Georgia has been the leader in his recruitment for a few months now, and Atkinson announced on Monday that he now plans to commit in July. This is one month sooner than most originally thought he would commit, so this is great news for Georgia and their fanbase.

UGA is also considered the favorite to land five-star running back Derrek Cooper as well. Cooper shared a similar update as Atkinson on Monday, but instead of pushing his commitment timeline up he canceled his July 12 commitment date. No replacement date has been set for Cooper yet, so this makes it unclear where Georgia actually stands with Cooper right now.
