Georgia was supposed to sign the No. 1 overall recruit earlier this week, but Jared Curtis unfortunately flipped his commitment to Vanderbilt at the last second. That loss will be impossible to fully overcome, but as more details come out about his recruitment Georgia fans might be relieved he didn't come to UGA.

But at the end of the day Georgia will always be left wondering what could have been had he stuck to his commitment. Even though Georgia did lose Curtis's commitment they still signed many very talented recruits who are now officially Bulldogs. And this includes the No. 1 kicker in the country in Harran Zureikat who has the chance to become the next great kicker for UGA.

Georgia sings another No. 1 recruit even after Jared Curtis's departure

Kickers never get enough credit for the value they bring to their team. But true football fans know how valuable an elite kicker is as they can save drives by putting points up on the board after their offense stalls out. Kickers also arguably have to handle the most pressure out of any player on the football field because they only have a few plays each game to make an impact, and everytime they take the field all eyes are only on them.

So having an elite kicker is a requirement for a team to be successful, and Georgia now has their kicker of the future.

While Georgia likely would have preferred to sign Curtis, they can still celebrate the fact that they were able to keep Zureikate in their recruiting class who is a fellow No. 1 recruit. Sure this may not be as flashy as keeping Curtis would have been, but he will be a difference maker throughout his entire career at Georgia and will help them win championships.
