Georgia student section didn't get Kirby Smart's memo ahead of Austin Peay game

Instead of listening to Kirby Smart, Georgia's student section decided to not show up for their team on Saturday.

Kirby Smart had one message for Georgia fans after their win over Marshall last week. Smart shared how disappointed he was that Georgia's fans didn't pack Sanford Stadium for their season opener and how the crowd left the game much earlier than he would have liked to see.

This message from Smart was obviosuly a challenge as he was hoping there would be a better turnout for their week two game against Austin Peay. Unfortunately that did not happen from Georgia's student section as seen in the below picture.

Portion of Georgia's student section is empty minutes before opening kickoff

It is worth mentioning that the lower bowl portion of Georgia's student section was packed before the game started. However, the sorority and fraternity section directly above was completely empty just 10 minutes before kickoff.

This is the exact opposite of what Smart wanted to see this week, and it's a real shame these students didn't show up for their team.

There are only a handful of Georgia home games every season, and this year the Bulldogs only get to play in front of their home crowd seven times. After that it's done. There aren't any second chances once the season is over as everyone has to wait over eight months for the next chance to pack Sanford Stadium and watch Georgia football.

So not only did some fans waste their first opportunity of the season last week, but they did again this week too. This makes two straight games of poor fan attendance, which is something that usually isn't a problem at Georgia.

It's unlikely any seats will be empty once SEC play begins, especailly because Georgia's next home game is against Alabama. However, it is still disappointing that some fans only seem to care about showing up for the Bulldogs when they are playing a good team.
