Georgia has lost a handful of players to the Transfer Portal this offseason. Thankfully they haven't lost many impact players to the portal, but Georgia's goal is to retain as many of their players as possible, so any loss they do suffer is impactful.

Georgia's latest portal entrant however is the first Bulldog that does hurt the future of the program more than anyone would like to see.

Georgia suffers biggest portal loss to date on Wednesday

Dominick Kelly is a freshman defensive back for Georgia who announced on Wednesday that he was entering the Transfer Portal. Kelly didn't see the field that much this season as he only recorded three tackles and three pass deflections, but as a true freshman he wasn't expected to do much this season. He was expected to have a big impact in the future however, but that unfortunately will not be happening at Georgia.

Out of high school Kelly was a four-star recruit and the No. 38 corner in the country. He also was the No. 374 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class as well. So while he wasn't one of the elite players out of high school he was someone that had the potential to grow into a solid starter at Georgia.

Georgia however will never get to experience how great of a player Kelly will become as he is now heading to a new program. No schools have been linked with Kelly yet, but he more than likely will have a lot of suitors. So while a return to Georgia is possible, it is very unlikely.

Georgia thankfully has added four defensive backs out of the portal already this offseason, so their depth should be fine without Kelly. But seeing a solid player with a lot of upside leave Georgia after one season is the last thing anyone wants to see.
