The college football world is five days away from the beginning of the early signing period for the 2026 recruiting class. This typically is a really exciting time because players from across the country sign their names on the dotted line to commit to their school of choice once and for all.
For Georgia this usually means they get to celebrate putting the finishing touches on one of the best recruiting classes in the country. But this year will be a little different because they will likely be missing on their No. 1 recruit. That player is five-star quarterback Jared Curtis who was unfortunately just predicted to flip to Vanderbilt.
So assuming that is what happens, where does Georgia turn next? Who will be their top target to replace Curtis? Unfortunately there isn't a backup plan for Georgia, as explained by Georgia insider Brooks Austin.
There is no backup plan.

They committed to him like he committed to them.
If he flips, they will scramble for a body, but it’s a gut punch. https://t.co/QmwNkNfXdT
Georgia will face a difficult situation if Jared Curtis ditches UGA
Georgia's goal every recruiting cycle is to sign one quarterback. That is the best way for their quarterback room to remain as stable as possible, so no matter what happens Georgia always needs to sign one QB every cycle.
Unfortunately that may not be possible in the 2026 class because of Curtis's potential betrayal. And there wouldn't be anyone to blame other than Curtis because Georgia committed to Curtis just like he supposedly committed to them. But it unfortunately looks like he is going to turn his back on Georgia for the second time, but this time it will be for good as he likely will be flipping his commitment to Vanderbilt next week and immediately signing his letter of intent with the Commodores.
Georgia will likely find someone to replace him, but they won't be anywhere near Curtis's level. But maybe that is okay, because if Curtis wants to decommit from Georgia for a second time then he was never the true Bulldog everyone once thought he was.
