One of Georgia football's top commits in the 2026 recruiting class is four-star wide receiver Vance Spafford. Spafford has been committed to UGA since last November, and his commitment came as somewhat of a shock because he is all the way from California.
Some thought the California schools would initially be a bigger draw for him, but that turned out to not be the case. However, that might be changing as those schools out west are starting to give Spafford a lot more attention.
But while Georgia attempts to hold on to Spafford's commitment, the recruiting sites will continue to evaluate him and update his ranking. On3 recently released their updated rankings, and Spafford unfortunately plummeted over 30 spots from No. 110 to No. 144.
Other schools are not backing down
Schools out west like USC and UCLA have been going all out in recent weeks for Spafford, but a new suitor has just made their presence known as well. That team is Miami (FL), who has been a pain in Georgia's side in recent weeks as they stole defensive back commit Jontavius Wyman at the beginning of April.
But as it stands today, Spafford is still locked in with Georgia even though he did spend two days in Miami right before he attended G-Day in Athens.
Even though Spafford's ranking did drop over 30 spots on On3, other recruiting sites are still very high on him as 247Sports has him inside the top 75 on their composite rankings. But regardless of what site Georgia fans look at, Spafford is ranked very high and is regarded as one of the top wide receivers in the country.
That means other schools will continue to pursue him and try to flip him from Georgia, but hopefully that does not happen because UGA could really use him in their wide receiver room in the years to come.
