Gunner Stockton listened closely to what Kirby Smart said.

Jan. 14 was the date for underclassmen to decide if they were going to enter the NFL Draft. That date however has come and gone without an announcement from quarterback Gunner Stockton.

In today's college football world players announce so many things. They obviously announce if they are entering the NFL Draft or if they are heading into the Transfer Portal. Players will also announce if they are returning to their school for another season as well.

But Stockton didn't do any of those things. He didn't make an announcement at all, and that is the most Stockton way of doing things.

Gunner Stockton's "announcement" was the best thing possible for Georgia

Stockton's name was not included on the list of NFL Draft entrants that was released on Jan. 15. That means he will be back at Georgia for one more season this fall. Most players across the country in his position would've made a big announcement that they were returning to school, but not Stockton. He did what everyone probably assumed he would do and announced nothing which was his was of saying that he was coming back to Georgia.

The lack of an announcement probably made Kirby Smart happy because he previously went on a rant about players and schools announcing too many things nowadays.

Stockton theoretically could still enter the Transfer Portal, but that has never been a real concern. So it looks like Stockton will be coming back to Georgia next season with hopes of leading the Bulldogs back to the top of the college football world.

It will not be easy for him to do so, but Georgia will once again have a chance to win a national title next season. Stockton himself also has decent odds to win the Heisman Trophy.

At this point it is too early to look ahead to all of that, so for now Georgia should just be happy that he is coming back for another season.
