Throughout all of last season Gunner Stockton was compared to Carson Beck. The second Beck transferred from Georgia to Miami that was bound to happen, so it isn't a surprise that both players were under a microscope all season long.
Both QBs found a lot of success during the last year. They both statistically had great seasons, but Stockton did get the better of Beck in the regular season by winning more games and winning the SEC. Beck however got the last laugh by making a run all the way to the National Championship game.
Georgia would've been a good team with either player quarterbacking their team, but Stockton's latest NIL move leaves no doubt that he was always the better option.
Gunner Stockton is exactly what Georgia needs
Last week news came out about Stockton's new NIL deal for the 2026 season. Since he is one of the best quarterbacks at an elite program like Georgia he could've made millions of dollars this season, but that is not what happened. Instead of asking for a large amount of money he told Georgia to pay him less so they can spend more on making the rest of the team around him better.
Beck was the complete opposite. He chose to leave Georgia for Miami which paid him endless amounts of money. Sure Beck still cared about winning, but he also cared about making as much money as possible as well.
Stockton's views on NIL money is exactly what Georgia needs in their leader. He is showing that he is the best teammate possible while Beck never felt like that guy while he was at Georgia.
It will be interesting to see if this helps Georgia this fall, regardless Stockton continues to prove why he was always a better option over Beck from a culture standpoint.
