The Trasnfer Portal has proven to be a very dangerous place for every college football team in the country. By now, every school has been surprised by some players entering the portal that no one saw coming.

Current Georgia football quarterback Gunner Stockton was recently asked if he ever thought about entering the Transfer Portal after Carson Beck announced he would be returning to Georgia for the 2024 season, and his answer earlier this year will make every UGA fan love him even more.

"No sir, I didn't, really. It's always been my dream to be the starting quarterback at Georgia."

Georgia has had their fair share of surprising players deicde to enter the Transfer Portal throughout the past few years. In fact, the Bulldogs had two players this past offseason who were shocking entrants including Carson Beck and Damon Wilson who transferred to Miami (FL) and Missouri, respectively.

Stockton entering the portal after the 2023 season however would not have been surprising.

Beck was coming off an impressive undefeated season in 2023 where many viewed him as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft. But instead of heading to the pros, Beck decided to return to Georgia for the 2024 season.

This decision could have easily sent Stockton into the portal so he could find a school where he could be the starting QB for the 2024 season. That however was never even an option for him because he has only ever dreamed about playing quarterback at Georgia.

Kirby Smart is yet to name Stockton the starter for this season, but in all likelihood it will be Stockton who is trotting out with the offense the first time they take the field against Marshall on Aug. 30. So in just one short month, Stockton will finally be able to live out his dream of. being the starting quarterback at Georgia.
