Georgia football's bye week is great for a lot of reasons. It is a good opportunity for the team to rest up, get healthy and devote extra time preparing for some of their future opponents.
But for Gunner Stockton, this bye week is a little more special for him because his high school will be retiring his No. 14 jersey during their home game on Friday night.

Gunner Stockton will have his jersey retired on Friday
Stockton was a member of the 2022 recruiting class, and his high school career was about as impressive as it can get. Through four years as his school's starting quarterback, Stockton racked up 13,652 passing yards, 177 passing touchdowns and an additional 4,372 rushing yards. He also led his team to deep playoff runs all four years he was in high school as well.
247Sports rewarded Stockton for his stellar career as they named him the No. 110 overall player in the country. He was also named the No. 7 QB in the 2022 recruiting class and the No. 11 player from the state of Georgia.
This celebration is coming at the perfect time in Stockton's career because he is coming off the best performance of his career in Georgia's win against Tennessee on Saturday. Stockton shined both with his arm and his legs as he completed 22 of 31 passes for 304 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball for an additional 38 yards and another touchdown as well.
Stockton and Georgia still have all of their goals in front of them this season, which includes winning the SEC and making a run in the College Football Playoff, but Stockton more than deserves to take a step back and return home to Rabun County High School to celebrate his amazing football career with his community.
