How to watch the College Football Playoff Rankings Release Show
The College Football Playoff rankings are finally here. It's time to do away with the AP Poll and let the only rankings that matter in college football take over.
The CFP rankings are as important as ever now that the playoff field has expanded to 12-teams. Now that triple the teams are included, any one loss won't prevent any team from making the playoff any longer.
The CFP rankings release show will air Tuesday night, Nov. 5 on ESPN beginning at 7:00 pm EST.
Expectations for Georgia football in CFP rankings
The first CFP rankings are always very nerve-racking as the committee has been known to do some wild things compared to the traditional AP Poll. In the latest AP Poll, Georgia football is the No. 2 team in the country, sitting behind only Oregon.
Now the Ducks likely will remain the top team in the CFP rankings on Tuesday night, but there is a chance that Georgia may be a little lower than No. 2. There is a case for a team like Ohio State or even Miami (FL) to be slotted higher than Georgia, even an undefeated team like BYU could be ranked pretty high as well. But there's no reason to be too fearful because Kirby Smart's squad will be included somewhere in the top 12, likely within the top half of these rankings.
One thing to note is that the order of these rankings does not necessarily equate to the seeds the teams would receive. The four highest ranked conference champions automatically get the top four seeds and first round byes, while the fifth highest ranked conference champion is automatically in the field even if they aren't ranked inside the top 12. So even if Georgia is somehow outside the top four of these rankings, they will likely be viewed as the current SEC Champion for now and slotted in as one of the top four seeds.
Stay tuned as these rankings are almost here, and there likely will be no debating or any fanbases upset later this evening when the rankings do come out.
