Georgia football rookies are not having the best of luck so far in the NFL. Many Bulldogs are finding a lot of success and are making a great case for why they should get a lot of playing time as rookies, but a fair amount of Bulldogs are suffering injuries during their first NFL training camp as well.
The latest Bulldog to go down with an injury is wide receiver Dominic Lovett with the Detroit Lions.

Star Georgia WR suffers injury with the Detroit Lions
Lovett was one of the rookie Bulldogs who had the most to prove since the end of Georgia's 2024 season. He may not have been the Bulldog that had the most drops on the team during the 2024 season, but Lovett certainly contributed to the amount of drops Georgia's wide receiver room had last year.
This fact would already make life difficult for him in the NFL as this stigma will follow him until he proved it was a thing of the past. So far it sounds like he was doing just that with Detroit after being selected by the Lions with the 244th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
Unfortunately Lovett's future this season is now in question after suffering an abdominal injury on Monday. Lovett was already pretty far down Detroit's depth chart at wide receiver, so earning some snaps this season was going to be tough. This injury however will make that even more difficult for him.
Lovett is now the second rookie Bulldog to go down with an injury during training camp as defensive back Dan Jackson suffered a significant leg injury this past weekend. Jackson is also a Detroit Lion as well, so the Lions unfortunately lost two big name players from Georgia already.
No word has come out about the severity of Lovett's injury, but hopefully it is minor so he can get back on the field so he can prove why he belongs.
