Saturday morning started with tears for Georgia fans and the rest of the college football world as ESPN's College GameDay aired a segment on Bulldog tight end Lawson Luckie and his youngest brother.
However, what the Georgia Bulldogs and their fanbase really wanted to know was whether Luckie would play against the Texas Longhorns or not.
"At the end of the day, I need to be close to home."

As much as Lawson Luckie could’ve been the big man on any campus, he’s always prioritized an even bigger role, as a big brother to Cannon. He tells @JenLada how Georgia football made his dream a reality ❤️ pic.twitter.com/PuZ0GwEtn0
Earlier in the week, Luckie was listed as probable, leaving a little room for nerves to set in. On game day, he was a go.
Georgia has lengthy injury list compared to Texas
While the Longhorns supposedly had zero injuries to report (even choosing not to list anyone as probable or healthy), the Dawgs had a handful of players on their availability report.
Luckie and defensive tackle Josh Horton were initially listed as probable. On Friday's report, both had been taken off the injury list and were set to play on Saturday night. However, there were five Bulldogs listed as out, missing the top-10 matchup between the SEC programs.
Wide receiver Colbie Young, tight end Ethan Barbour, wideout Talyn Taylor, defensive back Kyron Jones, and defensive lineman Jordan Hall would all be missing in action against the Horns, while the entire Texas roster would be available.
The Horns welcomed back defensive back Michael Taaffe and wide receiver Ryan Wingo with open arms, hoping the stars on both sides of the ball would help pull off the upset over the Dawgs.
However, even with the injuries for Georgia, the Bulldogs were still favored to pull off the win at home, edging out the Longhorns by 4.5 points according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
No. 10 Texas and No. 5 Georgia were scheduled to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Nov. 15, and the game would be broadcast on ABC.
