Each week, College GameDay holds time to share an inspiring story about someone in college football, and this week, Georgia tight end Lawson Luckie got to share the inspiring story that is his little brother.
Luckie is the oldest of three, and his youngest brother, Cannon, has turned into his biggest inspiration both on and off the field. Lawson had many opportunities to go play football at big schools outside of Georgia, but he chose his family first and chose to go to school just an hour away to help take care of his family.

As much as Lawson Luckie could’ve been the big man on any campus, he’s always prioritized an even bigger role, as a big brother to Cannon. He tells @JenLada how Georgia football made his dream a reality ❤️ pic.twitter.com/PuZ0GwEtn0
Lawson Luckie is a star football player at the University of Georgia. His job as the Bulldogs' tight end has been one that fans have loved to see, especially when he scored three touchdowns against Ole Miss to help hand the Rebels their first loss of the season. What people didn't know, though, was that Luckie is working so hard both on and off the field, especially to take care of his littlest brother.
When Luckie was seven years old, his brother Cannon was born, and it was apparent right then and there that his brother would not live a normal life as he was born without a portion of his brain, leaving him blind and deaf.. Luckie spent the majority of his life helping his family take care of Cannon, and when it came time to decide where to go to college, Cannon's condition took a turn for the worse.
It was at that time that Luckie chose to stay close to home and commit to the Bulldogs so that he could be close to his family and help his mother take care of Cannon.
Against Ole Miss, Luckie said he woke up feeling like that game would be different, and not only did he score his first touchdown of the season, but his first three of the season. After his second touchdown, Luckie ran the entire way across the end zone to go and point at his little brother, who was right there watching the whole thing.
Cannon's smile was so big, you just couldn't help but wide tears from your eyes seeing the love of two brothers. Luckie didn't go out and celebrate with his friends or teammates that night; instead, he wanted to go home and watch highlights with his little brother and celebrate.
Cannon's story is so inspiring, as someone with his condition only has a life span of about five years, and he is already 12 years old. Cannon is a reminder to smile more and spend time with those you love, as anything can happen. This story has even the most stoic people in tears and is an inspiration to all.
Luckie, who was questionable against Texas today, looks like he will suit up and play yet another game for his little brother between the hedges.
