Georgia football's showdown with No. 7 Tennessee is finally here. The Bulldogs are ready to prove the entire country wrong after they fell nine sports to No. 12 in the updated College Football Playoff rankings. And what better time to do that then by doing it against one of the best and hottest teams in the country?
The Vols present a legit challenge for Georgia and under no circumstances will be an easy win. But one major injury that has been talked about all week is with Tennessee's star quarterback Nico Iamaleava. The Vols' QB suffered a concussion in their game last week against Mississippi State, and his status for today's game has been up in the air all week.
Some reports earlier this week came out that he was trending towards being able to play on Saturday, but Friday night his official status for the big game was released.
Tennessee QB Nico Iamaleava will play against Georgia.
According to various reports all over social media, Iamaleava is healthy and will be starting against Georgia on Saturday night.
This is a significant development because Iamaleava is one of the top QBs in the SEC and entire country. So far this season, Iamaleava has completed 65 percent of his passes for 1,879 yards. He has also thrown for 11 touchdowns and just four interceptions this season as well.
So it's very clear how much more difficult this game will be for Georgia with Iamaleava playing.
Regardless of Iamaleava's status though, this would have been a very difficult game for Georgia to win. Simply because they have not been playing well themselves in recent weeks. So hopefully Georgia is able to turn that around and start playing to their full potential. If they can do that, then UGA should not have any issues winning this game even with Iamaleava playing for Tennessee today.
