In case you missed the news, Kirby Smart confirmed earlier this week that Gunner Stockton suffered a knee injury earlier this spring. Georgia did get a little fortunate that this injury wasn't serious, but any injury to Stockton is reason enough to panic.

Former Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm however took to social media and made the case for why Stockton's injury is actually a good thing. In fact, he went as far as to say that this will make him a better player in the fall.

Stockton had a really strong season last year as a first time starter, but there is still a lot of room for improvement as well. The one area where he needs to improve the most is on his deep ball.

Stockton really struggled to connect on his deep ball last year. Sometimes the pass sailed over his receivers head and other times he never even saw the open receiver streaking down the field. So while Stockton was great as a runner and with short passes, his deep ball is what prevented him from reaching his potential.

Fromm believes that his pocket presence is the reason why he struggled with his deep ball. Anytime the pocket broke down even just a little he took off running. That is what prevented him from seeing receivers down the field, and when he did see them his feet were never set which caused errant throws.

Fromm however believes this injury will force Stockton to stay int he pocket more this spring. He will have no choice but to work on his footwork and pocket presence as he lets his knee heal up. The hope then is that Stockton will be more confident standing in the pocket and not tucking the ball to run as often, and that should help him hit his targets down the field more often.
