On Tuesday star linebacker Jalon Walker went down with an injury during an Atlanta Falcons practice. Initial reports indicated that it was a lower leg injury, and the fact he had to be carted off the field showed it was bad in nature.

New reports are beginning to come out about his injury, and the worst-case scenario appears to be coming true as the fear is that he tore his ACL. Walker will get an MRI on Tuesday, but it is expected to confirm this bad news.

Jalon Walker’s first injury update is Falcons’ worst-case scenario

Walker was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons out of Georgia with the 15th overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. He immediately became one of the top defenders on their defense as he totaled 5.5 sacks while forcing two fumbles during his rookie season.

All signs pointed to him making a big leap in his second season this year, but this injury puts an immediate end to those expectations.

A final report will eventually come out about Walker’s injury, and if he did tear his ACL then he will not be able to play this season. He will recover and be back in time for next year, but that won’t matter right now as everyone tries to come to terms with the magnitude of this injury.

Jalon Walker’s injury drew an emotional response from Falcons’ organization

Walker’s injury drew an emotional reaction from the entire Falcons’ organization. While he was being looked at by the training staff the entire team stopped practice. Everyone reportedly took a knee and surrounded Walker to show him their support.

After being carted off the Falcons canceled the rest of practice because they just couldn’t stomach continuing after witnessing his injury. Injuries happen all the time in sports, especially in football, so typically it’s just business as usual whenever they occur. That however is not the case when the injury is significant, and Walker’s injury unfortunately reached that level.

Every Atlanta fan will be praying the MRI comes back showing he didn’t tear his ACL. That would save his 2026 season and give him a chance to see the field at some point this year.

That however is unlikely. This injury won’t stop Walker from having an impact on the Falcons this year though. He will continue being a leader off the field with his teammates, and when he does return he will undoubtedly be better than ever before.
