Georgia football’s top commit in their 2026 recruiting class is five-star Jared Curtis. In fact, Curtis is the No. 1 quarterback in the entire country. But as recruiting sites update their rankings Curtis could see himself fall in the recruiting rankings, and unfortunately that is exactly what happened on Wednesday after 247Sports released their latest update to their rankings.
Jared Curtis falls behind Texas QB commit Dia Bell
According to the updated 247Sports rankings, Curtis is now the No. 4 quarterback in the country. Before this update he was the No. 3 QB in the 2026 class, but this update sent Curtis down one spot.
So who passed Curtis in the rankings? None other than Texas commit Dia Bell.
Georgia has had a handful of issues with Texas on the recruiting trail recently. The Longhorns especially caused some problems for Georgia on Tuesday when they beat out UGA for five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson. On top of that, Texas also stole five-star Georgia commit James Johnson Tuesday afternoon as well. So Curtis falling behind Texas’s QB commit is the third example of the Longhorns beating Georgia on the recruiting trail in the last 24 hours.
The good news for Georgia is that the 247Sports composite rankings, which combines the individual rankings from 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN, still has Curtis as the No. 1 QB in the class. So Curtis technically is still the top ranked quarterback in the country.
But Curtis has begun to fall in the rankings over the past week, so it could just be a matter of time until he no longer is the No. 1 quarterback in the country. However, at the end of the day it shouldn’t really matter what happens to Curtis’s ranking. Kirby Smart and his staff clearly got their top choice in Curtis, so who cares what the random people who run these rankings thinks.
