Kirby Smart loves his two coordinators that he is alongside him at Georgia. Both Glenn Schumann and Mike Bobo have been on his staff for a long time, and he has rewarded their success by extending their contracts this past year.
But even though Smart wants both coaches to remain at Georgia, it appears that is unlikely to happen.
Schumann's name has been thrown around for a few open head coaching jobs over the last week, and On3 analyst Josh Pate confirmed that a few teams likely will make him an offer at some this next month.
“It depends on who you ask, but I’ve had enough people whom I trust tell me yes," Pate shared via essentiallysports.com. "My answer is yes. I refuse to bother these guys about this stuff during the season, so I never get firsthand knowledge of this, but enough people do that I’ll just talk to them. I wonder if anyone’s ready to make that investment who has a job opening on Schumann. He may have an opportunity or two on his desk that he may have to decide on or turn down in the next month or so."
Josh Pate believes Glenn Schumann could leave Georgia
According to Pate, he believes that Schumann will receive a few offers to become a head coach this offseason. And while he isn't entirely sure if Schumann will take one of these jobs or not, he believes there is a good chance that he will.
Pate didn't say which schools he thinks will be interested in Schumann, but other reports have circulated linking him to a few SEC openings. LSU was recently named as a school that could show interest in him this offseason along with rival Florida as well.
If Schumann is going to leave Georgia he won't do so until this season ends. So UGA fans better enjoy him while he's still in Athens, because every passing day it is seeming more and more likely that he will not be in Athens next year.
