The spring transfer portal window officially began Wednesday morning, which marks the beginning of the 10-day period players can enter their name into the portal this spring. While this is an exciting time for Georgia football fans as they wait to see who Kirby Smart adds from the portal, it is also a scary time because anyone is capable of shocking the world by entering the portal out of nowhere.
Coming into Wednesday, there was little known as to who could decide to leave Georgia and enter the portal. But one thing everyone did know is that at least a few players would because that’s what happens in today’s college football landscape.
And the first Bulldog to enter the portal has just become known as running back Branson Robinson has officially announced he is entering the transfer portal.

Branson Robinson enters the portal
Robinson came to Georgia with a lot of hype as he was the top ranked running back from the 2022 class. Unfortunately his time at Georgia never really worked out thanks to a lot of injuries.
Ahead of the 2023 season, Robinson ruptured his patella tendon that kept him sidelined for the entire season. Then came the 2024 season where there was a lot of hope that he would be one of Georgia’s featured backs, but he only recorded 73 yards in Georgia’s first six games before suffering a season ending MCL injury.
Robinson’s decision to enter the portal really isn’t all that surprising because of these injury issues and lack of playing time at the start of last season. Georgia also has a star in Nate Frazier in the backfield as well as true freshman Bo Walker who has been turning a lot of heads. So a fresh start for Robinson makes a lot of sense as he looks to get back to the success he found at Georgia during his freshman season in 2022.
Clemson, North Carolina, Miami (FL) and Colorado are reportedly potential landing spots for Robinson, but it won’t be surprising to see that list grow much larger. Regardless of where Robinson ends up he will have Georgia fans behind him, because he deserves to have a great season full of health and loads of success.
