To put it lightly, Georgia football's wide receivers really struggled during the 2024 season. So after a season where UGA's receivers led the nation in drops, it is very important for that group to draastically improve if Georgia is going to accomplish their goals this season.

G-Day on Saturday was the first chance for Georgia fans to see how the new group looks after countless additions from this offseason. And after a full spring where they could get acclimated to the program, expectations are high. And their performance on Saturday lived up to the hype and gave Georgia fans a lot of hope heading into the fall.

Kirby Smart also noticed a lot of positives from this group at G-Day as well, as seen in the below quote shared with the media on Saturday.

"Excited to see some more growth, excited to see some more toughness. Excited to see what they can do in the fall. The biggest thing is keeping them healthy," Smart shared via 247sports.com. "I don't know what the number is, but I would bet there's six or seven of them that are in their first time playing this offense, and that takes a little time. So I thought the six or seven new guys got better as the spring went on, and they got a chance to get 20-something more practices to grow even more. We're not where we need to be at wide out, but we have a good group to work with."

Smart is "excited" about UGA's wide receivers

Smart makes it very clear in the bove quote that this group still has a lot of work to do. But it is very clear that he is confident in them heading into the fall as well.

So while Georgia fans anxiously await the season ahead, the wide receiver room is something they may not have to worry about. And that is very surprising to say considering Georgia is only four months removed from one of their worst seasons at the position in recent history.
