Georgia fans believe that Mike Bobo has no business being their offensive coordinator. Kirby Smart however thinks that he is the perfect guy for the job.
At the end of the day it only matters what Smart thinks since he is the one in charge of the program, but a large portion of fans are very confused as to why Smart is such a believer in him. Smart however tried to make it very clear why he believes in Bobo, and it's really quite simple. He thinks Bobo gives Georgia the best chance at winning football game, and the past few years shows that he's helped them win a lot of games.

Mike Bobo's resume is better than Georgia fans give him credit for
Bobo returned to Georgia in 2022 and became their offensive coordinator in 2023. That coincidentally is the moment that Georgia stopped finding success in the College Football Playoff, but Bobo's resume is still better than anyone gives hime credit for him.
Since 2023 Georgia is 33-3 in the regular season. This includes countless wins over great programs like Texas (twice) and perfect records against all three of their rivals. Georgia also hasn't been upset by a bad team during this stretch either as their three losses are to Alabama and Ole Miss.
Georgia is also 2-1 in the SEC Championship game since 2023 as well, and that's hardly worth complaining about either.
Georgia fans do have the right to complain about having zero playoff wins since 2023 though. That ultimately is the most important time to win football games, and so far that hasn't happened under Bobo, but he doesn't deserve the blame he gets for it.
In 2023 Georgia was inexcusably left out of the playoff after finishing the season 12-1. They deserved to be in the playoff that year and if they were then who knows how far they would've gone. Then in 2024 Georgia had to start then backup quarterback Gunner Stockton for the first time against Notre Dame. That is a recipe for disaster that any offensive coordinator would have a tough time with.
Then there is Georgia's loss against Ole Miss in the playoff last year. That was a very disappointing defeat, but Georgia scored 34 points so how is that Bobo's fault? 34 points is plenty to win a football game, so their defense deserves most of the blame for that loss.
Georgia fans however just won't leave Bobo alone. He does need to eventually prove it in the playoff and get a win, but he isn't the only person who should be blamed for their lack of success in the CFP.
Georgia fans need to reevaluate their expectations for Mike Bobo
Countless Georgia fans have said that the only way Bobo can meet their expectations is by winning a national championship. Those expectations however are not realistic.
Georgia went 41 years without a national title before they won it all in 2021. Sure they won it again one year later, but Georgia has never been a program that is winning national championships every season. In fact, no program in the modern era of college football has done that, not even Nick Saban's Alabama during his best years.
It is okay to have winning a national championship be Georgia's goal every year, but failing to do so doesn't mean the season was a complete failure.
Bobo specifically doesn't deserve the blame he gets for Georgia's "failures" the last three years because of how each season ended. He scored enough points against Ole Miss to win, he was dealt a terrible hand when Carson Beck got hurt in 2024, and he should've had a third chance to win a title in 2023.
Those are just excuses at the end of the day and at some point he needs to get Georgia over the hump, but every other coach and player deserve equal blame for their lack of success too. It isn't all on Bobo, and it's time to start acting that way.
