Kirby Smart, Georgia gets massive shoutout during Senior Bowl

There are a lot of measures for success for a college football program and it's head coach. Wins and championships are obviously the things that will always define success the most. But former players going on and having successful careers in the NFL is another sign as well.

And not many programs have found more success in recent years in the NFL than Georgia. There are a lot of reasons why that is the case, and the players themselves deserve a majority of the credit, but Kirby Smart and the entire Georgia football program deserve some credit for that as well since they helped develop them and prepare them for the NFL.

Georgia got a shoutout for that very thing during the Senior Bowl this past week when Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy shared the following quote about Smart and Georgia.

"I don't have anymore respect for any program in the country than Kirby's. He's built an unbelievably competitive program, you know what you're getting."

Smart deserves this recognition

Not many people are closer to NFL prospects than Nagy, so for him to say that no other program has prepared it's players for the jump to the NFL better than Georgia is very significant. And while a lot of people deserve credit for that success, Smart deserves a vast majority of it.

Smart is the head of the program who makes all of the decisions. At the end of the day, he decides who Georgia recruits, he selects the coaching staff and makes the final decision on who the starters are and what scheme the team is running. So if Georgia is the best program in the country at preparing players for the NFL, then Smart deserves this shoutout that Nagy is giving him.

To no one's surprise, Georgia's five participants in this year's Senior Bowl played extremely well on Saturday. And likely no one will be surprised when these players and any other Bulldogs in the NFL continue to find success at the next level.
