While there were a lot of negatives to take away from Georgia's disappointing 28-6 win on Saturday, nothing is worse than seeing a player suffer a significant injury. And that is exactly what happened to freshman tight end Ethan Barbour.
Barbour is a true freshman who came to Athens as the No. 14 tight end in the 2025 recruiting class. He was expected to make a small impact this season, but no one expected him to be a starter this early in his career. But Barbour earned the start against Austin Peay which was a huge step forward in his young career.
Unfortunately his career has been put on hold because of an ankle injury he suffered on the final play of the first half.
Kirby Smart gave a brief update about this injury during his press conference after the game, and this update does not sound promising.
"Yeah, it was a tough ankle injury,” Smart shared via 247Sports.com. “I'm not sure. I mean, it was a bad deal. I don't know what the progress is going to be or how long, but it was a tough one to see right there, especially on the last play of the half."

Barbour had to be carted off the field after suffering this injury. This always makes it pretty clear that a player will be out for a significnat amount of time, and unfortunately it sounds like that will be the case with Barbour.
Georgia fans will have to wait for an official word on Barbour later this week, but for now it is safe to assume that he won't be available for their week three showdown at Tennessee. So a few Bulldogs will have to step up in his absence if Georgia is going to beat the Vols.
