Kirby Smart knows that it won't be easy to beat Florida on Saturday. Even if the Gators are 3-4 and without their head coach, Smart knows that they need to play well if they are going to win.

During Smart's recent press conference he was asked an interesting question. He was asked which former player of his he would love to have on this year's team the most. After weighing his options, he decided to go with a player that would fix Georgia's biggest problem this season.

"Okay, what do we need? We really really need some pass rush," Smart said via si.com. "You know what I mean? So how can I get some pass rush? Would it be Travon Walker? Would it be Brock Bowers? It would be somebody that could impact the game in a way that would be a huge difference maker. You know it's hard for one player in football to be that big of a difference maker."

Kirby Smart wishes he could have Travon Walker on this team

Out of all the former players Smart has coached, he wants to have defensive lineman Travon Walker on this team for the rest of the season. Walker is an easy choice because he helps fix Georgia's pass rush, or lack thereof, that has been plaguing them this year.

Walker played at Georgia for three seasons from 2019-2021. He was a dominant force from the moment he stepped on the field, but his final season as a junior is when he really shined. Walker tallied 37 tackles that season which included a whopping six sacks. Georgia's defense could really use those sacks this season because they have struggled to create any sort of pass rush from their defensive linemen this season.

Walker unfortunately won't be taking the field for Georgia on Saturday, but it really shouldn't matter all that much because UGA is favored by 7.5 points. But someone like Walker would be really helpful in Georgia's pursuit of winning a National Championship, so hopefully someone on the roster will burst onto the scene and finish the season strong.
