Georgia thankfully hasn't had to deal with too many significant injuries this season. And the ones that have occurred they have been able to overcome.
But Kirby Smart just shared that Gunner Stockton is a little "beat up" which is reason enough for UGA fans to panic a little.
"Yeah, he's beat up. He's beat up," Smart shared via 247sports.com. "And it's not, you know, it's not the design runs getting him. He did a great job. He slid. He made a play today. Converted a first down. You know, some of it's shots he's taken through the year. It's protection. It's him putting his shoulder down and running hard. But he had some really big conversions that his legs allowed us to have, which those are really frustrating for defenses. But he's got to take care of his body, and we've got to help him take care of himself."
Kirby Smart says Gunner Stockton is a little 'beat up"
It shouldn't be that surprising to learn that Stockton is a little beat up. That is bound to happen at some point because of the style he plays. But this is the first time Smart has even hinted at Stockton being a little hurt, so that is a scary thing to hear.
Whatever minor injury Stockton might be dealing with didn't seem to impact him during Georgia's 35-14 win over Kentucky on Saturday. Stockton finished the game completing 15 of 23 passes for 196 yards and one touchdown. He also found the end zone two times on the ground as well.
Stockton did throw his first interception of the season, but one interception through five games isn't anything to get worked up about.
The most important storyline for Georgia moving forward is the health of Stockton. Backup quarterback Ryan Puglisi hasn't looked the best in his limited playing time, so Georgia's season may depend on Stockton staying healthy.
At this point Stockton isn't dealing with anything serious, but if he is "beat up" then that is something Georgia needs to watch very closely.
