Kirby Smart isn't worried about the SEC cracking down on faking injuries

In case you missed this news, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey is cracking down on SEC teams faking injuries. The most common expamples of this are defenses faking an injury to stop the momentum of the opposing offense, or the offense doing so to avoid a delay of game penalty.

However, no matter the reason, faking an injury has always been super lame.

This news may have gotten lost in the shuffle for Georgia fans a little considering it was released right before Georgia football's big win over Florida this past weekend. However, Kirby Smart made sure to voice his opinion earlier this week, and it sounds like Smart isn't worried about it one bit.

"I respect Commissioner Sankey and what he sends out," Smart said via 247sports.com. "We don't condone that on our team or within our program. So we don't have to address it. We just keep telling them that if you're injured, you stay down. And if you're not, you get up and go play. That's our philosophy."

Georgia won't have to adjust how they operate

This was the immediate reaction from most Georgia fans after this news came out last week because Georgia has never been known to be a team that fakes injuries. And while it did create a small competitive advantage, Georgia fans are probably relieved UGA never had to resort to that just to win games.

The ironic part in all of this is that Georgia has been so dominant the last few years without having to resort to faking injuries, so what does that say about the teams that were doing it?

This news is good timing for Georgia because Ole Miss was one of the teams most known for doing this across the country. Now Georgia won't have to worry about that this weekend when they take on the Rebels.

People love to complain about the job Sankey does for the SEC, but props to him for making the right decision and not being afraid to do so in the middle of the season.
