Georgia baseball was on an absolute heater on Monday. The Bulldogs earned not one, not two, not three, but four commitments out of the Transfer Portal all in the span of a few hours.
Arguably the biggest addition out of the portal today for Georgia was when Oregon designated hitter Naulivou Lauaki Jr. committed to UGA. He has one of the most powerful bats in the entire portal, so he will fit in just fine in Athens.
His recruitment was anything but normal as Kirby Smart reportedly visited with him during his trip to Georgia to help recruit him to UGA. And it was this commitment that helped give Georgia the No. 1 Transfer Portal class in the country.
Met with Kirby Smart in Athens on his visit too.. Wes and staff went all in here.. BIG pick up literally https://t.co/RqHa6gwcQZ

Georgia baseball is here for the long run
Georgia signed one of the top Transfer Portal classes in the country last year. And what did that end up doing for Georgia? They won the SEC regular season and tournament championship while making a run all the way to the semifinals of the College World Series.
It's one thing to do that one time, but it's a completely different thing to consistently produce winners out of the Transfer Portal. Wes Johnson is proving that he can consistently add elite players out of the portal every year.
Will this elite Transfer Portal class lead to a lot of wins again next year? That remains to be seen, but the Bulldogs are showing that they have the potential to be a program that competes for championships for many, many years.
Now all that's left for them to do is go out and do it in the spring.
Kirby Smart once again proved why he is the best thing for Georgia
Is Smart the best thing that has ever happened to Georgia? He easily is when it comes to just the football program, but he is making the case for being the best thing to ever happen to the University.
Smart has always shown interest in every sport at Georgia, but baseball has seemed like the team he cares the most about when he isn't focused on football. That was seen a few weeks ago at the College World Series when he was in attendance for their first game while he was hosting a big official visit recruiting weekend in Athens.
Smart doesn't have to do any of this. He doesn't have to sit in the stands and support Georgia's other sports and he definitely doesn't have to help them recruit, but that is the person that he is. He doesn't only care about his program, he cares about the entire University, and he will do whatever it takes to help every sport at Georgia find as much success as his football program has.
Now all that's left for Georgia to do is get back to the College World Series next season and win it all. That won't be easy, but with the support of Smart and the entire Georgia community it is absolutely possible.
And Smart undoubtedly will be cheering in the stands if, or when, that happens.
