Georgia football fans have been able to watch Kirby Smart's son Andrew grow up right before their eyes. When Smart was first hired as head coach he was just a little kid, but he was regularly seen on the field celebrating Georgia's victories with his dad.
Fast forward to today and he isn't a little kid anymore. Andrew is entering his freshman year of high school this fall and his recruitment is already beginning to take off. He is a quarterback and apparently is a pretty good one because Georgia Tech has already offered him a scholarship. On top of that, Syracuse head coach Fran Brown, who is a former Georgia assistant, said he plans on offering him soon too.
Kirby up to this point hadn't commented on his son's recruitment yet, but that changed at SEC Media Days. Instead of hyping him up though he was adamant that people need to calm down a bit.

Recruiting rankings haven't come out yet for the 2030 class, so it's impossible to know how good Andrew actually is. But already having an offer from a Power Four school at this point is a sign that he could be a great player.
Kirby however isn't ready to talk about his son yet. He probably has an idea already if there is a chance he is going to be good enough to play major college football some day, but the last thing Smart wants to do is add pressure on him right now. Being his son already comes with a lot of eyeballs, and if he is great player that will only add to the attention he receives.
But Kirby doesn't want that attention to come too soon. He wants his son to remain focused on getting better each and every day while also wanting to keep the attention off him for as long as possible.
But if Andrew proves that he is actually good enough to play major college football then there will be nothing Kirby can do to keep eyeballs off him anymore.
Andrew Smart could become the most talked about recruit in the country
The last thing Smart wants is for his son to be overwhelmed by outside attention. He already is starting to get some of that attention, but the longer he can be hidden from the media the better.
In two years though the 2030 recruiting class will start taking center stage on the recruiting trail. Their initial rankings will come out and there's a good chance Andrew will be ranked. And considering he already has a Power Four offer there's a chance he could be ranked pretty high.
Will Kirby recruit him if that happens? Will Andrew even want to play for his dad? That would immediately become the biggest story in all of college football on the recruiting scene, so it's not surprising that Kirby is trying to protect his son from that as long as he can.
