Georgia football has finished their first spring practice of the season, which means it is time to once again here from Kirby Smart and the rest of the team quite often. Smart spoke with the media earlier on Tuesday and shared a lot of big updates about this year's team. And one of those updates was an injury update.
One would assume that Georgia wouldn't be dealing with too many injuries considering this is the first spring practice, but that unfortunately is not the case. In fact, Smart provided updates on 11 injured Bulldogs on Tuesday which included nine players who will be sidelined the entire spring.
11 Injury Updates
OT Monroe Freeling - Out indefinitely, shoulder surgery
EDGE Gabe Harris - Out indefinitely, shoulder surgery
TE Colton Heinrich - Out indefinitely, shoulder surgery
DT Christen Miller - Out indefinitely, shoulder surgery
DB Jaylan Morgan - Out indefinitely, shoulder surgery
QB Ryan Montgomery - Out indefinitely, ACL
RB Branson Robinson - Out indefinitely, PCL
RB Roderick Robinson - Out indefinitely, ankle
P Brett Thorson - Out indefinitely, knee
CB Daylan Everette - Limited, sports hernia
DL Joseph Jonah-Ajonye - Limited, foot
Key Takeaways
A few things immediately jump out from Smart's injury update, with the first being five players who are out for the spring because of shoulder surgery. There really isn't anything to note other than how strange it is for it to happen to five players at once.
Along with those five players who are out for the entire spring, there are four other Bulldogs out for the spring as well which brings the total to nine. That number is a lot larger than anyone would have hoped for, but the good news is that all nine players should be healty by the regular season this fall with some still participating in walkthroughs this spring.
The last thing worth mentioning is that Branson Robinson and Roderick Robinson are both working back from injuries. Both running backs missed a lot of time last season with injuries, so it's a shame that they are both not fully healthy. Hopefully they are able to get back on the field soon, because Georgia desperately needs their depth this season in the running back room.
