Kirby Smart provides a positive injury update for Trevor Etienne

According to Kirby Smart, it sounds like there's a good chance Trevor Etienne will be good to go by this weekend's game against Ole Miss.

Georgia football is coming off a big win this past weekend after taking down rival Florida 34-20. But it didn't come without any new injury concerns.

The biggest injury by far was to running back Trevor Etienne, who was sidelined for the entire second half with a rib injury. Losing a player with Etienne's talent is always bad news, but it's especially bad when you consider that Georgia was already missing two running backs for this game.

Thankfully Nate Frazier stepped up and had an amazing game, but the hope is that Etienne's injury wouldn't cause him to miss any time in the future considering how much the running back room is already suffering.

Kirby Smart spoke about this injury on Monday, and it sounds like Etienne is doing fine two days after his injury.

“Etienne feels good about it. He felt good yesterday, and he did some things (Sunday) with our guys,” Smart said via uga.rivals.com. “I won’t know exactly until I see him later today, but the trainers feel good about him. The big thing for him will be able to sustain and play through a little bit of pain. But he’s a tough kid.”

Will Etienne be back in time for the Ole Miss game?

Unfortuantely there is no way for us to know if Etienne will be back in time for the Ole Miss game this weekend. Reading between the lines it seems like he likely will be, but at this time that isn't a guarantee.

However, if Etienne was working out with other players on Sunday, the day after his injury, then it might not be crazy to think that he will be back by Saturday. But until we hear it directly from Smart, it'd probably be wise to not get our hopes up.

The first injury report of the week will be released in the coming days and Etienne likely will be listed. Let's just hope he's listed as probable instead of questionable or doubtful.
