Saturday marks the end of spring ball for Georgia with their annual G-Day scrimmage. But that isn’t the only thing going on in Athens today as this is the Bulldogs first official visit weekend of the year as well.
More recruits will be in town later this summer, but there are a handful of recruits taking their official visits to Georgia this weekend. This includes elite offensive lineman Carter Jones who is back at Georgia for his fifth visit of his recruitment.
Clemson currently is the team to beat in Jones’ recruitment, but Smart is doing everything he can to change that during G-Day.

Kirby Smart pulls out all the stops to convince 4-star Carter Jones to ditch Clemson
Jones isn't the highest ranked recruit in the world. He is a four-star offensive lineman, but he is as close to being a three-star as possible as he is the No. 402 overall player in the country, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. But the schools that are interested in him are quite impressive and show that he should maybe be ranked higher.
Other than Clemson and Georgia, Penn State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech are also pushing hard for Jones as well. Alabama, Florida, Auburn, Oklahoma, Michigan and Ohio State have all offered him scholarships as well. But it is Clemson out in front right now, but Smart is hoping to change that.
Smart had a lot going on during G-Day on Saturday with much of his attention being on his team on the field. But he took the time to find Jones and his family and chat with them before the game. That hopefully will stand out to him and help Georgia catch up to Clemson in this recruitment.
Jones doesn't plan on announcing a commitment anytime soon, so Georgia will have plenty of time to continue their pursuit. But it looks like they made another big impression this weekend as they look to catch up to Clemson.
