Spring ball is officially in the books for Georgia after G-Day on Saturday. This means that fans have to wait a few months before they get to see their team take the field again.
For Georgia though the grind doesn't stop as they will continue to prepare for the season ahead. Those preparations mostly happen in the shadows though when no one is looking, so fans at home usually have no clue what their practice schedule looks like.
Thankfully Kirby Smart shared what's next for his team as Georgia pushes forward in what is one of the most important offseasons of Smart's tenure.
"The next step for us is to continue two weeks of weight-lifting," Smart said via 247sports.com. "We've got football school, which we do and take guys back through the install and then we'll crank up in June."
Kirby Smart details Georgia's upcoming summer practice plan
Georgia has found a lot of success the last two years. Back-to-back SEC titles is always worth celebrating, but failing to win one game in the playoff three years in a row is getting very frustrating.
That is why this offseason is so critical because Georgia's goals are much higher than just winning the SEC.
Some teams will take a little time off after the spring, but not Georgia. They know how important this offseason is, so even though spring ball is done they are getting right back to work in the weight room. Then after that they will start summer ball and continue working hard ahead of fall camp.
Everyone need to get better if Georgia is going to make a deep playoff run this year. Players like Gunner Stockton are grabbing the most attention, but it's going to take a full team effort to reach their goals.
But it's clear that Smart has a plan, and so far it is going exactly as he was hoping.
