Georgia football dominated Alabama in the SEC Championship game en route to their second staright conference title. The Bulldogs came away with a 28-7 victory in a game that wasn't even for much of the game.

Most college football fans probably expected this to be a very close game. Even Kirby Smart thought it was going to be a tight battle when he spoke with Nick Saban during College GameDay Saturday morning. While Smart and the rest of the college football world ended up being wrong about that, Smart did make one prediction that ended up coming true and ultimately led the Bulldogs to victory.

Kirby Smart predicted Georgia's path to victory against Alabama

This game looked like it was going to be a defensive slugfest early on as both teams were struggling to move the ball in their first two drives. That however changed when Georgia blocked Alabama's second punt of the game which gave them amazing field position and led to their first touchdown of the game.

Smart actually somewhat predicted this play as he told Saban that it was likely going to be a play on special teams that determined who won this game. And this blocked punt is what sparked Georgia and gave them momentum for the rest of the game.

Georgia played so well that they probably would have won this game even without this blocked punt, but this play swung this matchup in Georgia's favor while putting Alabama on their heels for the rest of the night. And the fact that Smart predicted this play makes it that much better.

While there are countless plays worth celebrating, this play deserves as much praise as any other. This play helped lead Georgia to victory, and Smart knew that's what it was going to take to beat this Alabama team.
