On Friday Georgia will learn where four-star safety Ta'Shawn Poole intends to play his college football. He is one of the top safeties in the country as well as one of the best players from the state of Georgia, so he is someone Kirby Smart and Georgia desperately need.

Once upon a time Georgia had commitments from two top 100 defensive backs. Both of those players unfortunately flipped to other schools which has left Georgia with a whopping zero defensive back commits. This is their chance though to make a big splash by adding a player who could make an immediate impact the second he arrives in Athens.

Who are Ta'Shawn Poole's finalists?

Poole's three finalists are Georgia, Tennessee and Florida State. These three schools all hosted Poole on an official visit this summer along with Clemson, but the Tigers did not make the final cut for Poole's commitment.

When is Ta'Shawn Poole committing?

Poole will announce his commitment on Friday, July 17 at 6:00 pm EST.

How to watch Ta'Shawn Poole announce his commitment

The exact method to watch Poole's commitment has not been shared yet, but it will more than likely be available to be streamed online. The 247Sports and CBS Sports network will stream his commitment with it more than likely coming on one of their YouTube channels.

Who is predicted to win Ta'Shawn Poole's commitment?

Unfortunately for Georgia they are not predicted to win Poole's commitment. Anything is still possible, but as it stands today it is Florida State who is expected to win Poole's recruitment.

The Seminoles have two predictions in their favor on 247Sports which were logged on June 14 and June 16. These dates are significant because they are just a few days after he officially visited Florida State. Poole however did visit Georgia the following weekend after these predictions were made, so there is a chance that they made up ground and potentially even passed Florida State while he was in Athens.

On3 however also favors Florida State as they give the Seminoles a 92 percent chance to come out on top. They do have Georgia in second place, but they are a distant second at this point in time.

What would a commitment from Ta'Shawn Poole mean for Georgia?

A commitment from Poole would be one of the biggest wins of the 2027 recruiting cycle. He is the No. 64 overall player in the country, so that shows just how big it would be for Georgia to earn his commitment.

The Bulldogs however have zero defensive backs currently committed to their 2027 recruiting class. That is a big problem at this point in the recruiting cycle because they are running out of time to find quality recruits to fill out their recruiting class.

Poole is from the state of Georgia as well, so proving that they can recruit the state well is important right now too. Georgia currently only has two players committed who are ranked inside the top 20 prospects from the Peach State, and with how talented the state is every year that too is a big problem.

In a few days Georgia will learn if they earned Poole's commitment or not. It may not look too promising right now, but until he actually announces his commitment anything is possible.
