Georgia didn’t have as strong of a showing at the NFL Draft this year. The Bulldogs only had eight players picked and only one in the first round which is a little below average for their standards, but Kirby Smart was still able to flex on every other school.
Graham Coffey explained it to perfection in the post below. Since 2021 Georgia has only lost seven games, but during that time they’ve had 14 first round picks. On top of that, Georgia has had the same number of losses and first round picks in Smart’s 10-year tenure in Athens (21).
It’s hard to believe that these stats are real because of how remarkable they are, but Georgia isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. In reality this is just a sign of the times and what everyone should expect going forward.

In ten seasons at Georgia, Smart has gone 117-21
After tonight, he has the same number of first-round draft picks (21) as total losses
No school can compare to Kirby Smart's NFL Draft success
Having the same number of first round picks as losses seems like a stat that's bound to end at some point, but that might not be the case.
Georgia hasn't been able to get back on top of the college football world again after winning back-to-back National Championships three years ago. Failing to win another title has led some fans across the country to act like they are a program on the decline, but that isn't accurate.
The last three years Georgia has only lost three regular season games. They also have won two SEC titles as well. So even though they aren't winning in the playoff, they still aren't losing all that often.
Smart has continued to recruit at an extremely high level as well. He also is one of the best coaches at developing players into NFL prospects, so the amount of first round picks out of Georgia won't be slowing down anytime soon.
It also doesn't look like their success on the field will be slowing down either as they are the favorite to win the SEC again this year.
The college football world loves to knock down the programs that are on top in any way they can, but Georgia's reign on the college football world isn't stopping anytime soon. In fact, this impressive stat is just a sign of what's to come as long as Smart is the head coach at Georgia.
