Georgia football finished off another impressive season in the SEC by beating Texas to go 7-1 in conference play. While they wait to see if that is good enough to make the SEC Championship game, the Bulldogs will finish their regular season with two non-conference games.

Kirby Smart had his weekly press conference on Monday as he and his team prepare for their final home game of the season against Charlotte, but the most intriguing question asked had nothing to do with this week's game. Smart was asked about how he handles players that enter the Transfer Portal and leave Georgia, and he gave a response no one expected to hear.

“We schedule them. The ones that want to leave, we schedule them. We try to get them on the schedule, because when they want to leave, because they're not physical, that means they're probably going to a place that's not physical. We like those places; we like to play them. We prefer them, actually, if you can get them on the schedule. So, it's one of those deals that you don't run from hard in life. You run from hard in life, you'll find more hard.”

Kirby Smart warned players of what could happen if they leave Georgia

Smart didn't back down when asked about Georgia players leaving in the Transfer Portal. He said that he wants to schedule and play the schools of wherever his former players transfer to so he can show them what they're missing out on and why they didn't fit at Georgia in the first place.

Obviously Georgia doesn't have much control over their schedule because the SEC schedules their nine conference games each year, but Smart's comments shouldn't be taken literally. Instead of actually meaning they are going to go out and schedule all of these other schools (which would be impossible), Smart is trying to get the point across that they will not miss anyone that decides to enter the Transfer Portal and leave Georgia.

No matter what their reason for leaving is, Smart knows that their heart was not with Georgia. So why would he miss anyone that doesn't want to be at Georgia?

Georgia thankfully hasn't had very many impact players decide to leave Georgia in the last few years, but it could just be a matter of time until more do. But Smart made it clear that he will not miss any player that does decide that Georgia isn't the right place for them.
