Georgia football and Kirby Smart have a lot of interest in many of the top recruits all across the country in the 2026 recruiting class. That is typically the case with every recruiting class each year, but this year seems like it is more true than ever before.
One of those recruits Georgia is extremely high on is five-star tight end Kaiden Prothro. According to the 247Sports composite rankings, Prothro is the No. 21 overall player in the country. He also is the No. 2 tight end in the 2026 class and the No. 2 overall player from his home state of Georgia as well.
Prothro recently announced his top five schools, and Georgia made the cut along with Florida, Alabama, Auburn and Texas. He also shared that he will be taking an official visit to all five schools as well, beginning with Georgia on May 30.
This recruitment clearly is going to be difficult because of how talented Georgia's competition is, but Prothro being an in-state recruit should help UGA some. However, Smart's recruiting pitch to Prothro should also speak very loudly as to how badly Georgia wants to win this recruitment.
""They compare me to Brock Bowers a little bit."
Prothro could be the next Brock Bowers
Smart shared with Prothro that he sees a lot of Brock Bowers in him. As every Georgia fan knows, Bowers is one of the best tight ends to not only come through Georgia, but to ever play college football as well. He also is fresh off his rookie season in the NFL that saw him finish second in the Offensive Rookie of the Year voting.
So being compared to a player like that has to be helping Georgia in this recruitment at least a little.
It will be interesting to see if this pitch leads to Georgia winning this recruitment or not, but this is one that UGA fans should have a little confidence in right now.
