Georgia had an awfully quiet night during the first round of the NFL Draft for their standards. Instead of having a couple Bulldogs drafted they had to settle for offensive lineman Monroe Freeling being the only player selected when the Carolina Panthers took him with the 19th overall pick.

Even though he was the only player selected Georgia fans should still celebrate, and Kirby Smart made sure to get the party started by sharing how proud of Freeling he was.

"Congrats Monroe Freeling!" Smart said via ugawire.usatoday.com. "It has been awesome watching you grow over the past three years. The Panthers are getting a great leader and a force in the trenches. GO DAWGS!!"

Kirby Smart shares emotional message with Monroe Freeling after he was drafted by the Panthers

Smart definitely hopes to have more than one of his players drafted in the first round every year, but tha doesn't mean he won't celebrate even if just one player is selected like this year.

Freeling absolutely deserved to be drafted in the first round this year. In fact, many experts believed he was going to be taken even earlier than he was, but at the end of the day he ended up with the perfect team so it really doesn't matter.

Now the fun part begins for Freeling and Georgia fans as they get to witness his development with the Panthers. He more than likely will be a starter this season, and that means he will form a friendly rivalry with Jalon Walker. As everyone knows, Walker plays for Atlanta which means the two will go head to head twice every season.

It will be hard for Georgia fans to know who to cheer for, but that is a good problem to have.

Smart continues to send more players to the NFL than any other school, and that makes waking up on Sundays in the fall that much more fun because there are Bulldogs all over the place.
