Georgia has just two games left in the SEC this season after their 24-20 win over Florida last weekend. Everyone will want to look ahead to their SEC finale against Texas, but the Bulldogs have to get by Mississippi State first.
Mississippi State only has one win in conference play this season, so many Georgia fans will assume this will be an easy win. But that couldn't be further from the truth as Georgia is only favored by 7.5 points.
But if that isn't enough to realize how challenging this game will be, then Kirby Smart's warning he issued to his team on Monday likely will be.
"The energy, enthusiasm coming out of that program, you can see it in the way their kids play,” Smart said via 247sports.com. “They've got no quit in them. These guys have competed. They've been in every game they've played,"said. "They have upgraded the talent level since he's been there. You look at the group [has] put together defensively, offensively and special teams. They've got really good players all over the field.”
Kirby Smart sends a warning about Georgia's upcoming game vs Mississippi State
While Mississippi State is only 1-4 in conference play, they actually are 5-4 overall. Their four wins in non-conference play include a victory over a ranked Arizona State team in their season opener which had everyone thinking they were legit.
Unfortunately the wheels have fallen off a bit for Mississippi State since conference play began, but all but one of their losses have been extremely close. They lost to Tennessee and Texas in overtime while only losing to Florida by two. So there is a scenario where Mississippi State has a few more wins and are even ranked right now.
Smart knows that even though their record might not be good, Mississippi State will be a handful on Saturday. He knows that they absolutely have the ability to pull off the upset this weekend, so that is why he issued this warning to his team so they know that they can't overlook Mississippi State during this game.
