Georgia football has added a lot of solid transfers from the transfer portal already this offseason, but there are two guys who stand above the rest, at least in the eyes of Georgia fans.
Those two players are wide receivers Zachariah Branch from USC and Noah Thomas from Texas A&M.
After all of the struggles Georgia's wide receiver room went through last season, it goes without saying why Georgia fans are excited about these two players. Branch has a chance to be the most electric player Georgia has seen in quite some time, and Thomas has the size and frame to dominate anyone.
But what does Kirby Smart think about these two after they have been on campus for a little over a month now? He recently spoke about his initial impression with the media, and this likely will only add to Georgia fan's excitement.
"Yeah, I'm excited about both those guys," Smart shared via 247sports.com. "Both really good players. Both have been successful in their organizations where they've been. They're both talented pass-catchers, which seems to be the largest turnover position there is, outside of quarterback where there's only one. That's the one that has the most transfer at its position. Receiver is probably next. Both those guys are high-caliber athletes, but they're high-caliber people. I've enjoyed working with them.
What can Georgia fans expect from their wide receivers this season?
It's hard to imagine a scenario where Georgia's wide receivers aren't better than they were last year. After leading the country in drops, it's hard to imagine a scenario where that happens for the second year in a row.
But Georgia needs their receivers to have a great year, because the Bulldogs will be starting an unproven QB this fall. Last season, Carson Beck was able to make up for some of this group's issues, but can Gunner Stockton do that for the group this fall again?
Stockton might have the ability to carry this group like Beck did at times, but he does not have enough experience yet for anyone to feel confident he can. So the best thing that could happen is Georgia having one of the best wide receiver rooms in the country, that way there is a lot less pressure on Stockton and the rest of the offense to be perfect.
