Georgia football has emerged victorious nine years in a row against Tennessee now. Five of those nine wins have also come on the road at Neyland Stadium which is no small feat considering how impressive their environment is every year.
But it really doesn't get any better than knowing that Tennessee can't even beat Georgia in their own stadium when they have been a really good team for many years now.
Kirby Smart was asked about Georgia's win streak against Tennessee during his postgame press conference, and his response will give UGA fans a big smile while also making Tennessee fans furious.
"Well, I lost a lot of times in a row as a player. So, I mean, it still sticks with me," Smart shared via 247sports.com. "I have a lot of memories, good and bad, of playing here. Five in a row is a lot. Going back to Alabama, it's probably more than that."
Kirby Smart throws shade at Tennessee
A reporter asked Smart how much Georgia's win streak against Tennessee means to him, and he first poked fun at himself by reminding everyone that he never beat Tennessee as a player. But ever since those tough times as a player, Smart has had Tennessee's number.
Smart has lost to Tennessee just once as the head coach at Georgia, and that came in his first season as UGA's head coach. Since then, Smart has not lost to Tennessee and that includes a perfect 5-0 record on the road against the Vols. But when presented with that stat after the game, he made sure to remind everyone that he has won more than five games in a row in Neyland Stadium dating back to his time on Nick Saban's staff at Alabama.
It's unclear if Georgia will get to play Tennessee next season or not, but regardless it's safe to assume that Georgia will once again emerge victorious the next time these two teams play each other.
