Earlier this week the game times for the SEC's slate of Week 10 games on Nov. 7 were released. This is the week Georgia plays at Ole Miss, and they were unsurprisingly given a night game since they are two of the best teams in the SEC right now.
This is the same week that Alabama and LSU play. Just like with Georgia and Ole Miss they too are some of the best teams in the SEC, but on top of that they are rivals as well. The SEC however gave them a 3:30 pm EST kickoff time, and Lane Kiffin is upset.
"If someone thinks the SEC wants us to win this year after what’s been going on, they must have just been on Mars the last four months. So I guess when I look at it that way, I’m not surprised," said Lane Kiffin via On3.
Lane Kiffin wants what Georgia has in Week 10
Lane Kiffin is not happy that Alabama and LSU aren't playing at night. He has every right to be because whenever these teams play it is one of the biggest games of that week, and if LSU got to host Alabama at night their chances of winning would probably slightly improve though.
The SEC however isn't going to give LSU that advantage. Instead they gave Ole Miss vs Georgia the night slot instead.
This may not be that great for Georgia at the end of the day because they are the road team having to travel to Ole Miss. Playing at night in the SEC is extremely difficult, but Georgia is going to have to deal with this disadvantage head on and still find a way to win. If this decision from the SEC is going to upset Kiffin though then it may just be worth it to have to play Ole Miss under the lights.
Georgia is still waiting for their first home night game this season
LSU has played four night games already this season. This includes their matchup earlier this season against McNeese State when there were a few other big games in the SEC that same day. Sure it's strange to not have LSU and Alabama play at night, but they've already had plenty of games at night this season.
Georgia on the other hand hasn't had one home night game yet this year. Instead they've had to play all their night games on the road against the best opponents they'll play this season (Alabama and Ole Miss). If anyone should be upset it should be Kirby Smart because the SEC is refusing to give Georgia a home night game, but you don't hear him complaining. Instead the person complaining is Kiffin even though LSU statistically gets more night games than any other team in the SEC.
Georgia has two more opportunities to get a home night game this season when they host Missouri and Georgia Tech. Missouri is probably their best chance to get a home night game, but at this point who knows what the SEC is going to do.
