Georgia football is once again in a great position to compete for a National Championship this season as they are 8-1 and the No. 5 team in the country. The competition standing in their way however is no joke as there are a few teams who could very easily beat Georgia and end their season in the College Football Playoff.

But there are a lot of reasons why Georgia should be confident that they can beat anyone in the country, but they should be especially confident that they are one of the best teams in the SEC. But that is not how Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin sees it as he made a strong case for why Texas A&M not only is better than Georgia but are the best team in the country.

Lane Kiffin is confident one team is much better than Georgia

Texas A&M is undefeated this season and were named the No. 3 team in the country in the initial College Football Playoff rankings last week. Ohio State and Indiana were the two teams ranked above the Aggies, but if it were up to Kiffin he would have Texas A&M as the No. 1 team.

Kiffin did make a lot of good points as to why they deserve the top spot. They do have one of the best wins in the country at Notre Dame while also being able to survive the SEC season so far this year. But should Kiffin be confident that A&M is even better than Georgia?

While the Aggies do have an impressive win, that is the only win that is worth mentioning on their resume. Texas A&M has benefitted from playing a very easy SEC schedule as the six teams they have faced are a combined 8-27 in conference play. Georgia on the other hand has faced Ole Miss, Alabama and Tennessee already this season and will matchup with Texas this weekend. Texas A&M however gets to play 1-6 South Carolina on Saturday.

So while it is still impressive for A&M to be undefeated at this point in the season, their resume is not good enough to have a legit claim at the No. 1 spot. In fact, Georgia probably has a better claim to that spot even though they have one loss this season.

But at the end of the day Kiffin is doing what he does best by stirring the pot and trying to create as much drama as possible. So Georgia needs to avoid listening to Kiffin and put their head down to prove him wrong.
